Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson announced the state had approved Atlantic County’s plan for a COVID-19 drive-thru testing site.

The site, located in the parking lot of the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing, will be open to county residents who show coronavirus symptoms and have a doctor’s prescription and make an appointment. The mall had previously been planned to be the testing location.

Stating Thursday, the first people getting tested will be symptomatic healthcare workers and first responders by appointment through the Office of Emergency Preparedness. The rest of the public — with an appointment and the required documentation — will be tested starting April 13.

Middlesex County will open a second drive-thru COVID-19 testing site on Friday in South Brunswick for county residents by appointment. The site will open Friday at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Inspection Station, 2236 Route 130 north, in the Dayton section of South Brunswick, the county said in a release. The site will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 10; Monday, April 13; and Wednesday, April 15.

The Edison testing site, which opened April 1 at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Kilmer Vehicle Inspection Center, will not be open on the same days as South Brunswick site, according to the release.  It will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 17; Monday, April 20; and Wednesday, April 22.

Atlantic County obtained 600 test kits and the necessary personal protective equipment for the drive-thru facility. All of the results will be reported to the Atlantic County Division of Public Health, and, upon confirmation, its staff will contact residents who tested positive.
